Bowie State University Secures Nearly $600,000 in State Grants to Advance Equity in Education and Strengthen Maryland’s Workforce


Bowie State University has been awarded more than $586,000 in new state funding to drive equity in education and strengthen Maryland’s workforce. The grants will launch two major initiatives: the Ujima SAGE Peer Consultation Project, which fosters culturally grounded collaboration among educators, and the Child Care Career and Professional Development Fund, which expands degree opportunities for child care providers. Together, these programs reflect Bowie State’s ongoing commitment to preparing diverse, career-ready professionals who uplift their communities.

BSU Students Honor 9/11 With Care Packages for First Responders


This year marked the 24th anniversary of 9/11 and the Bowie State community came together for a day of service. Funded by a Transform Mid-Atlantic Campus Grant, Love East of the River and the BSU community assembled 300 care packages for Cedar Hill Regional Medical Center, the Washington Metropolitan Police Department and Howard University Hospital.

Prince George's Film Festival at Bowie State University

Where film, culture and arts connect - Bowie State University will host the Prince George’s Film Festival at the Fine and Performing Arts Center, featuring engaging panels and workshops for filmmakers, actors, writers and creatives. Experience a celebration of film, culture, and the arts with workshops, panels, screenings, and discussions on art and technology. On Saturday, Oct. 4, join BSU's Fine & Performing Arts Center (FPAC) for a special screening of Stand Together as One – The Famine, The Music, The Impact at 7:00 p.m. This documentary revisits the making of the iconic “We Are The World" music video with special guest, local actor Jabari Banks of Bel Air fame.
