Dear Bulldog Community,

I want to extend my heartfelt appreciation to the Commencement Committee for their commitment and dedication to making the 2025 Spring Commencement such a huge success. The weeks of planning and their tireless work resulted in a ceremony that our Bulldogs and their families will never forget.

During Commencement, our team of volunteers welcomed Senator Angela Alsobrooks, Maryland’s first Black U.S. Senator, to our campus who offered words of encouragement to prepare our graduates for the next chapter of their lives. I was honored to bestow upon her the Presidential Medal of Excellence for her exemplary leadership and service.

The entire campus celebrated with 784 students, including 591 undergraduates, 159 masters, and a record 34 doctoral students, who received their degrees. This occasion was just another milestone added to the legacy laid by our founders 160 years ago, a legacy that continues the mission of this institution to provide opportunities for our students to thrive.

Thank you to the Commencement Committee members for their leadership, flexibility, creativity, and Bulldog grit to persevere through many challenges, including unpredictable weather, to get us to the finish line:
